i guess this confirms that i have been living under a rock this year. check out this years grammy nominations:
Record Of The Year
Be Without You (Mary J. Blige)
You're Beautiful (James Blunt)
Not Ready To Make Nice (Dixie Chicks)
Crazy (Gnarls Barkley)
Album Of The Year
Taking The Long Way (Dixie Chicks)
St. Elsewhere (Gnarls Barkley)
Continuum (John Mayer)
Stadium Arcadium (Red Hot Chili Peppers)
FutureSex/LoveSounds (Justin Timberlake)
first off, im not entirely sure what the difference is between record of the year or album of the year, but judging by the nominations im guessing it doesnt mean shit. you seriously have got to be kidding me with these nominations. most of these artists had only 1 hit single on their albums and it still sucked like shit. i havent heard one song from mary j on her nominated album. gnarls barkley only had 1 single i can remember. i havent heard one song from mayers album. JTs song is F'n lame. now i have heard a few songs off the chili pepper album...
its seriosuly an injustice that sams town by the killers wasnt nominated. every song on that album rocks and even the hit single was used by major league baseball during the playoffs, on fox sports before football games on sundays, and its even used by ESPN before their friday night basketball games. "when you were young" is what i would consider probably the top single this year and the F'n album wasnt even nominated. listen to sams town and tell me which single doesnt rock. theres probably 10 songs on that cd that i can listen to that makes me feel like getting off my ass and out sprinting a bmw m3 in a quarter mile in my running shoes.
i guess i should take consolation that "when you were young" was nominated for best rock song and best video, but noooooo i wont. because i know the killers will get screwed by the chili peppers. "dani california", albeit a decent song that sounds like any other chili peppers song, will obviously win because im sure the grammy judges have only heard of the chili peppers.
im actually pretty damned surprise that "chasing cars" by snow patrol was nominated for best rock song. i mean, its a good song, but wow. i didnt think snow patrol had that kind of following. even their album is better than any of those nominated for best album or record of the year.
injustices like this require a calming dose of eva
