matter of attrition

they say turnabout is fairplay and some things just come full circle. in the mail this past weekend was my new firm's holiday party invitation. the last one of these i went with a good friend of mine. the settling realization that at one time i knew so many of them but now they are all scattered about and the relationships have changed. what once was plentiful is now bare. im the worst at keeping in touch for lack of effort. acceptance has turned into skepticism. these days there are few that i would even consider. it seems the more i know the less i have. is it natural selection or just being fickle? a quandry to know whats next.
